Since leaving the truth, do you celebrate holidays, and does your participation in such bring you happiness?
by Stand for Pure Worship ini ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.
hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.
while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

Jeffro, you know Jethro? I thought it was ironic anyway and not a slight towards you. And yes, I may very well be naive as holidays are foreign to me. Doing calls yesterday, a sister who is a pioneer raised the question about what do worldly people get out of holidays, especially Christmas. None of us in the car group were able to answer as it's all foreign to us. One brother who came into the truth later in life couldn't answer either and his wife celebrates with his sons and extended family. So yes Jeffro, I'm naive. I thank you all for your replies.

Well, I'll be darned, someone with a name like Jeffro discovered my typo. Thanks for catching that. To be sure, I do ask this sincerely and perhaps saying that I'm glad to never have participated was a poor choice of words. What I mean is, I don't necessarily feel I'm missing out on anything. However, media has a way of making holidays appear magical and I wonder just how true that is. Reading your thoughts and experiences lead me to conclude that the holidays can be a good excuse to get together with the family at least due to convenience and I respect that. As well as volunteering. However, can any of you say that the holidays you've celebrated, have left you with cherished memories? Did you have an unforgettable New Years? A Thanksgiving or Christmas that will bring a tear to your eye years from now? A Valentines Day that made you forget about life's irritations if even momentarily?

I'm not judging you by asking this, just curious as the very thought of participating in worldly holidays is completely and utterly foreign to me. Do the holidays do anything for you?

A new start? Watchtower renaming at HQ Columbia Heights
by Gorbatchov infriends,.
who was in any doubt that our jw believe is a marketing model, see this pictures of the still existing hq of jw at columbia heights.. earlier comments on jwn that something is going to change in the organisation, these comments are true.. in a few years we will not talk about the watchtower society, we wil talk about jw.org.
i think the current leadership will make a transfer to a new start.

Doubt it. For one thing they have nothing to hide or distance themselves from. Even if there was some unflattering piece of history that they no longer wanted to be associated with, do you really think in this day and age of media and the Internet, they would be capable of doing so? I just did a JW.Org search and within the first two pages of results there were as many apostate links as there were to the True Religion. No, by letting it be known where people can find reliable and trustworthy information about Jehovah's Witnesses, the organization is simply using another tool at their disposal. I'm sure they recognize Satan is going to do all he can to discredit them, and he'll have some success. However the brothers have to press on.

Blood sausage
by stillin inwhile visiting our neighbors across the pond, i visited a butcher store to rustle up something for supper.
that was the first time i had ever seen blood sausage.
we just never see it over here in the states.. when a witness leaves the organization over there, do they all eat blood sausage once again?
